D.O.A. !!! This is the way I took the news I was given by my doctor during my routine physical in June of last year. This is loosely the way I recall the conversation with my doctor.
Doctor: Bread is fat, Rice is fat, Soda is fat, Jason is fat.
Me: Give it to me straight doc, do you think I need to lose some weight?
Doctor: You are fatally obese and may die on the way out of my office.
I pondered the news given to me on the ride back to my office and decided if I want to be around for my two wonderful kids, role model wife, and future trophy wife I needed to change my lifestyle.
That was a little over a year ago, since I have changed my diet lost 60 pounds and become addicted to running. This year I have ran two half marathons and bettered my time from last years halfs by 1 hour and 13 minutes. I have since signed up for a 13K, another half in November, and a Marathon next year in Feb.
I think over the years I just got stuck in a rut of daily routine, You know wake up, eat, go to work, eat, go home, eat, have a snack, go to bed, repeat as necessary. I was in a hole. Running has helped dig me out of this hole. I've found that it's the closest thing to feeling competitive/ athletic since high school sports. Being used to team sports (football & soccer) I have found a new type of individual competitive spirit by running and trying to better my personal bests.
This so called dairy will follow my progress and other happenings in my life such as my wonderful kids, role model wife, and on going search for that trophy wife. Peace Out!!!
